Jazz fan Michel Leproux discovers an extremely rare album that he desperately wants to hear. As he is about to play it in his beautiful Parisian apartment, his wife Nathalie interrupts him to discuss the future of their unemployed, 30-year-old son Sébastien. Then Sébastien shows up unexpectedly, as does their housekeeper, Michael's mistress who threatens to reveal their affair to Nathalie, an invasive neighbor and some Filipino refugees who Sébastien has taken under his wing. To top it all, this is the day that all the neighbors are supposed to host a party. In the middle of this chaos, Michael remains determined to use his talent as a master manipulator to be able to enjoy one hour of tranquility.
