Fed up with oppressively low wages, hazardous working conditions and abject exploitation, labor organizers Wattie and Agnes Doig stand up to a corrupt mining company in tiny Korumburra, Australia. After Wattie leaves his job, he and his wife spearhead a strike, demanding to be heard. When the company hires a new workforce made up of anti-union laborers, the Doigs turn to the Communist Party for help in organizing a shocking act of civil disobedience.
