This Holiday Season, Give Colleagues & Clients the Gift of an Exclusive Cineplex Experience

If you plan it, they will come. This may have been true in the past, but in the age of live-streaming and virtual meetings it takes more than a room and decent coffee to draw an audience.

It’s a sweltering Tuesday near the end of August, and Monica Zatorski, a sales representative at RE/MAX Eastern Realty, is preparing to organize her firm’s Holiday Season Client Appreciation Movie Day – this family event is their way of thanking clients for their patronage.

“Typically, we hold the event on the last Saturday of November or the first Saturday of December, depending on the holiday blockbuster release dates from year to year,” she explains.

This will be the Realtor’s 12th consecutive year hosting the popular festive family event at Galaxy Cinemas Peterborough.

“Our numbers have been steadily growing over the years,” she said. “Last year, we had over 1,100 of our clients come out to enjoy a movie on us.”

As one might imagine, with more guests come unforeseen challenges, but Zatorski's confidence in Cineplex's ability to find customized solutions to any issues that may arise gives her peace of mind.

For the Cineplex team, the increase in guests was an easy fix. “We staggered RE/MAX's movie start times which helped alleviate traffic and congestion at registration and concession lines,” explained Ryan Carty, general manager at the theatre in Peterborough.

“The feedback has been great,” Zatorski shared. “I get phone calls every year asking what the date is and which movies we’ll be screening, from clients and realtors alike.”

A Multi-Venue Event for a National Holiday Celebration

Meanwhile, from her office in Toronto, Nancy Gregorio, events manager at Invesco Canada, is anticipating her company's Client Appreciation Holiday event which occurs in several Cineplex theatres across Canada simultaneously.

With approximately 150 guests per theatre, two-to-four theatres per event—and only one Cineplex point of contact with whom she must coordinate logistics—planning a nationwide event can be accomplished relatively easily for Gregorio.

"Hosting our event at Cineplex theatres gives our sales teams a great opportunity to interact with their clients and get to know their client’s families on a personal level," she said. "And our clients love it—it’s a Saturday morning that they can spend with their families."

This year, Gregorio has reserved a private group screening of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch for the event. "We’re already on the list for Toy Story 4, coming out in 2019," she chuckles. "One of the biggest advantages of having a wonderful relationship with Kristen Hughes, Cineplex event manager, is the ability to book movies well in advance of the release date."

Cineplex offers a number of onsite extras, in addition to film viewing and concessions, including expanded breakfast, lunch and reception menus, photo booth rentals and big-screen video game tournaments to entertain a diverse crowd. Having a captivated theatre audience also provides companies with an opportunity to promote their brands with a presentation before the film begins, a task made easy through the use of the theatre’s in-house AV system.
